Event Details

The Wellness Collective is a Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce event. Developed to promote the region's wellness community and resources, the Wellness Collective will feature vendors and educational sessions from the wellness sector. This event serves as a liaison for the businesses to the consumers. Vendors and sponsors are encouraged to present their business, or a topic of their expertise during 10-15 minute TED talks.

A keynote speakers and reception will round off the Wellness Collective starting at 6pm featuring Danny Wyrwas.

Danny was pursuing his college degree in Biology and Chemistry although he had taken many classes in math, business and accounting; ecosystems and nature drew him most. He took a 10 year pause so when he returned to finish college he felt called to be a teacher and wrestling coach. Money was tight as he paid for his schooling himself. He wasn’t afraid of hard work so he had three jobs intertwined into his daily routine of school and his workouts to push himself physically.  One job was installing fence for a high school friend.  The following summer doors opened quickly. Within a few months, he got married and started a fence business.

Danny was tiny growing up, always one of the smallest in his classes. He was 4’10” and weighed less than 89lbs as a freshman in HS. He had a love for all sports and a relentless amount of energy. He was fearless which earned him a place on the 5thand 6thgrade football team as a 4thgrader. His parents had to sign a waiver. However, as the years past his peers out grew him and sports that required size passed him by. Wrestling would become his only sport in HS. College scholarships came and he was able to wrestle in college.

Lacking outside mentorship he entered college alone. Since he excelled in HS in math, chemistry, biology, trigonometry and even taking college accounting classes he did the same in college. His first semester consisted of 21 college credits, work study and wrestling. The workloads only increased as he became a cafeteria manager and co-captain his sophomore year. He pushed his body beyond its physical limits. Injuries set in. Ranked 7thin the nation NAIA and a junior, he stepped away from college. The next 10 years he struggled to find himself.  He was angry and constantly wondered, “what could have been.”

Danny returned home and started coaching wrestling. He struggled with this idea of, ‘what could have been,’ and wondered how he could help others not have to go through the hard life lessons he had. “What if I start mentoring young men? What if I share my struggles so they don’t have to face life alone?”  Still struggling with personal issues he found himself in Sidney coaching wrestling and working construction. On a cold February night, he couldn’t sleep and walked into an alfalfa field where he got on his knees and accepted Jesus Christ into his life.

A few months later he took a job in Alaska where he went away to find himself. He returned home in November with a new outlook on life and Christ in his heart.

Danny has run Absolute Fence for over two decades and he will be the first to tell you; “It isn’t my business. Its Gods, I’m Blessed to run it.”  He believes in stewardship not ownership. Through prayer and revelation God showed him that Wisdom matters and if you are going to run a successful business you had better ask and study. He isn’t shy and feels every business owner and leader goes through the same problems so he started to share his success with others. Many liked what he shared and encouraged him to start something: Elevate leadership and Business Consulting was born.

Danny is unconventional in is leadership and business style in the fact that he asks God to lead; having Faith that God is faithful. His team does morning reads and morning stretches. He believes that profit is a byproduct of a healthy culture. You may hear him say things like, ‘people have to work somewhere, what if that culture was heathy, wouldn’t they take that home and change the house, then change the neighborhood?” He believes that business is the lifeblood to any community
